The Official Grand Opening Event
The Credit Union building at William Street Dungannon was officially opened to the public in October 1994. After an almost a 30-year period without any major investment, the Credit Union decided that a significant refurbishment was required to upgrade existing facilities and to improve the building’s environmental performance. Mór Architects and JP&S Construction were appointed and went on to deliver the extensive fit-out and reconfiguration within a 40-week programme. In the summer of 2023, the face of Dungannon Credit Union changed with uninterrupted member services maintained throughout. Enhancing the Credit Unions’ street presence whilst displaying a commitment to accessibility for the local community with varying degrees of mobility were considered and new access at road level on Georges Street decided on. Having a much “Greener Focus” was also an important consideration for the board, to be able to play their part in the protection of the environment. Working closely with the project team solar panels were installed to ensure reduction of their carbon footprint.
Dungannon Credit Union are now delighted to offer members new and old, a spacious, modernised, and engaging surrounding to transact in with an enhanced experience that meets the changing needs of members. The new environment sets DCU apart in Dungannon with member’s needs and privacy of paramount importance. DCU can service an ever-growing membership and with additional consultation rooms the utmost discretion for members is ensured.
As a non-profit financial institution that holds its members at its heart, all services prior to the refurbishment remain, including tellers to handle cash transactions. DCU have conducted surveys, listened to feedback, and incorporated additional services for their members’ convenience including a Quick Lodgement facility and a Self-Service booth which enables efficient transfers, balance enquiries and supporting member online banking services. DCU understands the members need to be able to transact 24/7 and offers a new look website, which is safe for transactions and very informative for all those members questions as well as an App, for those transacting on the move.
The familiar faces of their experienced teller staff look forward to welcoming members, new and old. For younger members, DCU supports educating them to take responsibility for their own savings and adopting a regular saving plan, guiding them towards good financial management for the future. The introduction of an electronic community notice board in branch also provides members with CU news, events and helps support local businesses.
